La Fhéile Pádraig Shona Duit!

It’s St Pat’s today, and town is awash with green. The sun, absent for days behind a fug of grey, obliged by smiling down on the parade.

It’s exactly a year since I first presented at hospital with a lump and was told to come back next week and bring a friend. How good it is to be approaching Spring with all that behind me and the prospect of better health, and hair, to come.

Today in the gym my scar once more sparked comment, this time from the aquaerobics ladies. A huddle of them surrounded me. “Have you had a Lat D? Mine were seven year ago.”  Three of them, it transpires,  are breast cancer veterans.

My op has been delayed to make way for a more urgent case. It’s now on 18 May. I don’t mind. It means it will be even nicer weather while I’m recuperating. It does however mean the all clear party will have to be postponed. Watch this space for a new date.
